Out on Tuesday 22nd apparently.  Can anyone recommend the best / cheapest place to buy for delivery to the UK?

I have my original from 1984 still, but none of the glue sticks any more on the inner sleeves.

Interestingly, ztt.com says it's direct from the original tapes, so presumably none of the recent remastering. I could be tempted. What are the chances that it'll sound better than the original vinyl release. Heavier vinyl, but what's vinyl mastering like these days?

In theory it should sound better than the original 84 pressing, but then, how good is your turntable becomes the question?

I wonder what the advantage of a vinyl release is, when the tapes it's being mastered from are digital?

Maybe the master tapes are a higher bit rate than CD, anyone know?

I'm not sure. But (and forgive me not being a hi-fi expert here) I think the aural advantages of vinyl aren't just about fidelity, but also involve the pre-emphasis applied to the sound which helps give vinyl its distinctive "warm" sound.

All I know is, with my turntable-amp-speakers set-up, I prefer the sound of Frankie on vinyl. Something like Two Tribes, for instance, sounds much more involving off the original 12" - the drums aren't as harsh, the bassline feels slightly deeper and more rounded, and the whole thing seems to drive forward. I don't know that it's more faithful to the original (unlikely, if CD has a pure D-D-D sound path from the master tapes), but it works for me!
