The Strippah
Jul 20th, 2010 at 4:35am

Well today i was playing some Liverpool demos and i came across The Strippah. So im just wondering, whats the story behind it? Its so different from anything Frankie. Iv heard it over and over and the only way i know its official is by hearing the lads shouting at the end. Can anyone shed some lgiht on this? Smiley

i  seem to recall no less than vegan, celibate Morrissey also had this song as a b-side somewhere or other?

class link, g man - Morcamble & Wise's kitchen routine using the song remains one of the funniest things on TV ever Grin

as for why Frankie recorded it, perhaps someone in the know could shed light, but i would imagine there's an awful lot of "down time" in the studio. musicians tend to fanny around a bit to break the boredom. try and have a listen to Five Guys Walk Into A Bar, the excellent Faces box set. there are some great jams & dialouge from Rod & the boys on it.

Ah yes Faces, i love the song Cindy. Great vocals by Rod on that. In an early album compliation, The Strippah appeared as an end track to side one which i thought was interesting. I like to think of that compilation as being a WTTP style setup since the tracks seems to have the fun, joy and jokiness WTTP had. LIverpool was great but i did miss the fun pieces like Tag and bits like that from WTTP.

The Strippah
It was recorded in Holland.
The Lads messing around in the studo singing along to their version of "The Stripper" this was played at the end of the 1987 gigs as the lights went up and everybody was leaving.
