all very confusing.

You were expecting clarity...?!

'For the victims...' was what I used to think it was called 'till I got hold of the original CD (it's the patrick allen bit?)

Maybe not, I'm in Devon away from the collection so cannot check.

I never thought it was 'Tag' (where did that name come from - gracenote?)

Anyway, the album version will always be the album version will always be shite in comparison.  Was the bridge knocked out to make way for Prince Charles' cum?  Very patriotic, but musically poo.

I can't believe I've not done this yet, but I'm going to replace the majority of side 2 with the originals (yes, Relax and War are also substandard to my ears.)  I'll keep PC's cum on it (erm...)

Relax (Move), War (Hidden) with Reagen added if you feel so inclined plus the Two Tribes 7" would've made a very strong side 2.

The funny thing is is that I believe that many of the real fans were 12"ites and didn't necessarily have the singles so would've been more 'useful'.

Yes, I didn't get the 7" versions until many years later. Still haven't got myself a UK 7" copy of Relax yet ...

I'll just stand up for the album mix of Two Tribes though. I'd have felt slightly cheated if they'd just used the single mix again, and I quite like the relentless feel of it by skipping the middle-eight. Nice and heavy too, and then there's that urgent "Ha!" at the start. So yeah, I love it.

The album mix of Relax though ... far too close to the single mix for my tastes, so I usually skip it when listening to Pleasuredome. But apparently not close enough for most people here.

whereas i agree with that, there's just always been something about the album versions of Relax and Two Tribes that just don't sound right, thus i rarely give them a play.

as a big fan of that whole "tell the world that you're winning" bit, i was mighty annoyed when i first played the album and heard it gone.

Most obvious differences to me are the lack of that single drum echo during the intro to Come Fighting and the echo on the vocals on the album version compared to the 7".

And the heavy attack on the opening keyboard - sounds like somebody gulping.

TCH got it wrong I think, and 'reworked' these 2 classics just to make them different.

Here's an idea, replace Relax with 'Move', and 2 Tribes with Hibakusha - further, a halfway Hidden War as opposed to the album version (again, reworked for the sake of reworking it - it really didn't need it).

It says something that that side of the LP is probably the worst of the 4, and it has such great songs on it... Shocked

Do the album versions have a consistency from an audio point of view that might be missing using the single versions?

I think Relax is digital recording where the original 7" was analogue. Perhaps one reason why that track was redone?

as enlightening as it is to learn of what Reagan will busy himself after the end of the war, you have a good point there that i've never stopped to think of before.....

Hmmm, interesting opinions here. I think I have to agree that the album versions aren't really the best versions of any of the songs.

- I always quite liked the Relax album version, but it does seem to lack a bit of the punch and bottom end of the single

- War is just a poorer version of Hidden, and the Reagan samples date it even more than it should. But I originally heard the album version before Hidden, so when I first heard it I thought it was amazing!

- Two Tribes - again, I really like this version, but you can't help but feel a bit cheated when such a large chunk's been removed.

Hmm.....

Well with Two Tribes, i felt they could have used the Hide Yourself mix of War instead to make room for Annihilation or Carnage. The version of Two Tribes on the album just didnt have the energy the single version did Sad

Its also a shame there wasnt an extended version of Black Night White Light. I love that song. Really wish there was a longer version Smiley

Well, there is a slightly longer version that was upped on here a while back but it wasn't by much - 20 seconds maybe.

That long outro could've gon on and on and I would be interested to know if Mark has something in his collection of Sarm tapes that has an unfaded version. If not, maybe Ian will come across it in his search through the archives because something like that must have existed at some point.

Umm whos Ian and what archives are you talking about?  Tongue Well 20 seconds isnt much but its something Smiley I think the extended version of Ballad of 32 and a version of Black Night White light should have been on it. Would have made that side of the album interesting  Cheesy

Ian is a regular here, and as i recall was tasked with digging through the ZTT archives to put together the deluxe WTTP.

the archives would be what ZTT have locked away, so anticipating your next question, no, sadly, this is not a place any (or at least many) of us can visit!

Well he's one of the luckiest men alive! Does he ever post on here?

And to be allowed in the archives, i would probably sell my house and car to ZTT for just a peek and a listen Grin
